About the Role
Join Marina Bay Sands and develop your culinary career in a high-performance environment, working with experienced chefs to deliver quality food experiences for guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out instructions from the Chef de Partie and Sous Chefs and complete assigned tasks according to directions.
- Stay flexible with scheduling requirements, including working on any day of the week and across different shifts.
- Concentrate on one task at a time and finish it before moving on to the next.
- Complete the work assigned by the Chef de Partie within the required timeframe.
- Take part in company training sessions and approach learning with a positive mindset.
- Maintain calm, efficient teamwork while supporting a healthy working environment in the culinary, pastry, and bakery teams.
- Show a positive attitude and take pride in the quality of the output served to guests.
- Comply with company policies and all legal requirements related to health and safety, sanitation, and fire prevention.
- Escalate maintenance issues to culinary management using the correct reporting process.
- Keep personal grooming standards high and support professional presentation standards for any subordinates, especially in guest-facing areas.
- Arrive for shifts on time according to the culinary department schedule and report illness or absence using the proper procedure.
Food Preparation and Kitchen Standards
- Check that food production follows approved recipes, specifications, presentation standards, portion controls, and production quality expectations.
- Maintain food quality and hygiene, ensuring products remain in sanitary condition and following FIFO best practices.
- Store ingredients and finished items correctly in the appropriate refrigeration units and storage containers throughout the shift.
- Keep all work areas clean and sanitary, and ensure stations are cleaned after every service.
- Use kitchen equipment safely and correctly, and guide other culinary team members in proper usage when needed.
Job Requirements
- Degree, diploma, or certification in Culinary Arts, Patisserie, or Bakery.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in culinary arts, pastry, or bakery work.
- Ability to identify different types and categories of raw materials.
- Understanding of various cuisine types.
- Basic knowledge of cooking and sanitation practices.
- Familiarity with basic cooking preparation methods and knife handling.
- Professional, well-groomed appearance.
- Availability and willingness to work rotating shifts.
