Role overview
The City of Medicine Hat is hiring a Facility Worker I – Building Services for a temporary, full-time, on-site position in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. This role starts at $24.74 per hour and focuses on helping keep municipal facilities safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for staff, visitors, and the public.

Key duties
- Support the day-to-day condition of City facilities so they remain safe, usable, and inviting.
- Help maintain clean and well-kept environments that create a positive experience for customers and occupants.
- Spot facility concerns early and take action to reduce interruptions and keep operations running smoothly.
- Respond professionally and promptly to requests from occupants and customers.
- Assist with routine safety and security checks by following established procedures.
- Provide dependable support for events, facility relocations, and other operational tasks.
- Contribute to the upkeep of outdoor areas that present a positive image of the community.
- Encourage safe work habits, teamwork, and ongoing improvement in daily operations.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or an equivalent credential.
- At least six months of experience in building maintenance and/or custodial work.
- Current Emergency First Aid and CPR certification, or a willingness and ability to obtain it.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence, with the ability to keep it valid.
- An equivalent mix of education, training, and experience may also be accepted.
- This is a safety-sensitive position and requires a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen, including testing for cannabis use.
