Role overview
The Ministry of Education in New Zealand is hiring two experienced and trusted Executive Assistant / Project Coordinators for its Curriculum Group in Wellington. One position will support the Hautū, Te Poutāhū / Deputy Secretary one-to-one, while the other will support two General Managers. Both roles will also provide backup coordination support for the wider Curriculum Programme of work.
This is a permanent, full-time office-based position in Wellington, with some flexibility available after the role has been established. The work is varied, fast-moving, and involves regular contact across the Ministry, ministerial offices, and external stakeholders.
What the role involves
- Managing busy and frequently changing calendars with care and accuracy
- Keeping inboxes under control and prioritising messages proactively
- Screening requests so urgent matters are dealt with promptly and other items are passed on appropriately
- Preparing meeting packs and coordinating supporting papers
- Providing peer support and sharing knowledge with colleagues
- Offering reliable administrative and project coordination support to help senior leaders focus on strategic work
About the team
The Curriculum Centre Group contributes expertise and partnership across the New Zealand Curriculum, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, and Te Whāriki. It supports the national curriculum, assessment and aromatawai systems, and develops curriculum services for teachers, kaiako, leaders, ākonga, whānau, and communities.
The group’s work reflects te reo Māori, mātauranga Māori, disability, inclusive learning support, and culturally relevant content, helping Te Mahau support learning that is inclusive for all ākonga.
