Overview

Redbridge Council is looking for a skilled Executive Assistant to support the Executive Leadership Team. Based at Lynton House in London, this is a permanent full-time position within the Chief Executive’s Department. The role is central to keeping senior leadership activity running smoothly and effectively across the organisation.

Redbridge is a fast-growing and highly diverse east London borough. The council is focused on strengthening its relationship with local communities and building innovative ways of working to support that vision. The area is known for its good schools, comparatively affordable housing, quality green spaces and strong transport links into central London.

What the role involves

You will provide high-level executive, governance and operational support to senior leaders. The post calls for someone who can handle complex scheduling, manage correspondence, organise meetings and briefings, and keep important business processes on track. You will help ensure decisions are made clearly and promptly while working alongside senior officers, elected Members and outside stakeholders.

The work is set in a busy and politically sensitive environment, so you will need to think ahead, spot issues early, and deal with competing priorities with confidence and tact. The council is looking for someone who can support modern, efficient ways of working and contribute to the Executive Leadership Team’s strategic priorities.

Candidate profile

The preferred candidate will have strong experience supporting senior leaders, along with excellent planning, communication and relationship-building skills. You should be comfortable managing demanding workloads, staying composed under pressure, and handling information with discretion. A practical, solutions-led mindset and a commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement are important.

This role may occasionally require flexibility outside normal hours, so the ability to adapt quickly is essential.

Application and important information

Applicants are asked to complete the online application and upload a CV plus a covering letter explaining how they meet the person specification.

Shortlisted candidates must be able to provide evidence of their right to work in the UK.

The council welcomes applications from suitably qualified people from all backgrounds and is committed to inclusive employment practices regardless of age, disability, gender identity, sex, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, or colour.
