Key responsibilities

• Guide, coach, and develop a distributed group of Python engineers, supporting performance, career progression, and technical strength.
• Own the design and delivery of infrastructure automation and software products for large-scale cloud and bare-metal environments.
• Remain hands-on in the codebase while setting technical direction and upholding strong engineering practices.
• Set team goals, plan execution, and monitor progress so that delivery stays aligned with wider business objectives.
• Work with product, operations, and engineering partners to influence technical priorities and delivery plans.
• Build a strong engineering culture centered on testing, documentation, reliability, and performance.
• Promote modern development practices, agile ways of working, and a mindset of ongoing improvement.
• Serve as a connector across teams, keeping communication clear and alignment strong for both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Demonstrated success leading and mentoring software engineering teams, preferably in distributed or remote-first settings.
• Deep practical experience with Python software development.
• Good understanding of cloud computing and modern infrastructure platforms such as OpenStack and Kubernetes.
• Background in Linux administration, along with familiarity with storage, networking, and systems operations.
• Strong grasp of core software engineering principles, including architecture, testing, and scalable design.
• Ability to combine technical depth with people leadership, coaching, and alignment across the organization.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical groups.
• Experience working in agile environments and shipping complex software in iterative cycles.
• Strong problem-solving ability, ownership mindset, and focus on continuous improvement.
