Role summary
This role sits within Employment Plus at The Salvation Army and is known internally as an Employability Practitioner. It is focused on helping people who are dealing with multiple and complex barriers move towards lasting work. The post holder will support participants with encouragement, practical guidance and a person-centred approach so they can become more confident, better prepared and closer to sustainable employment.
Location and working pattern
The position is peripatetic, so the successful applicant must live in the area and travel across Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy. The role requires a minimum of 35 hours per week and is based on-site. The interview date is yet to be confirmed.
About the organisation
The Salvation Army’s Employment Plus service helps people get ready for work and supports them in finding and keeping employment. The service operates in more than 650 locations across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland and works with jobseekers to understand their goals and adapt support to their needs.
What the role involves
The aim of the post is to reflect the organisation’s values by offering practical support and “a hand up” to participants. The role is centred on removing or easing barriers that may affect employability, finances, housing, relationships, wellbeing, social inclusion and digital confidence. It also plays a key part in spotting, developing and securing suitable opportunities for unemployed people in the local community, in line with the organisation’s belief in work for all.
What we are looking for
We are seeking someone who is self-driven, enthusiastic about helping people overcome obstacles, comfortable working as part of a team, and able to take a proactive and solution-oriented approach. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
Application and checks
Applicants should download and review the job profile and any supporting documents before applying. The criteria in the job profile must be clearly addressed in the supporting statement, as this will be used for shortlisting. Appointment is subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS check for the adult workforce, confirmation of a driving licence, and evidence of the right to work in the UK in line with Home Office requirements. The organisation is unable to sponsor visas, so applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Existing employees under notice of redundancy will receive priority consideration if they apply. The organisation may close the vacancy early if enough suitable applications are received.
Equality and recruitment guarantee
As a disability confident leader scheme employer, The Salvation Army guarantees an interview to all disabled applicants who meet the minimum essential criteria for the vacancy.
