About the role
Skyborn Renewables is looking for a Document Controller to support its offshore wind activities in Bremen or Hamburg on a 24-month fixed-term basis. This role sits within a global offshore wind developer that has over 20 years of experience and covers the full project lifecycle, from early-stage development through construction and long-term operation.
The position is linked to the Gennaker offshore wind farm, a major project in the German Baltic Sea that has received its construction and operations permit. With an installed capacity of 976.5 MW and expected annual generation of about 4 TWh of green power, the project is planned for commissioning in 2028 and is intended to supply electricity for roughly one million households.
You will join a collaborative, international team of more than 300 colleagues where safety, integrity, teamwork, and early responsibility are central to how work gets done.
Responsibilities
- Set up and keep document control systems and workflows running across assigned offshore wind projects, ensuring documents remain consistent, accurate, and properly maintained throughout every project stage.
- Assist with the setup, day-to-day administration, and practical use of document management tools such as SharePoint, Aconex, or comparable platforms.
- Manage the structured exchange of documents between internal teams and external partners in accordance with document control procedures.
- Maintain the main project document repository and check that records are complete, correctly tagged, easy to access, and of suitable quality.
- Handle document review, categorization, archiving, and handover between project phases in line with company, project, and industry requirements.
- Support users, provide guidance and training, track adherence to document control standards, and contribute ideas for process improvements and lessons learned.
Requirements
- A degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
- Some initial experience in document control, preferably gained in offshore wind or major infrastructure projects.
- A working understanding of document control basics and the documentation needs across a project lifecycle.
- Exposure to digital document management systems such as SharePoint or Aconex.
- Good command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Careful attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills, and the ability to handle deadlines effectively.
- Strong communication skills and a cooperative mindset for working in a multidisciplinary, international environment.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; German language skills are advantageous.
Perks and benefits
- Opportunity to work for an international company contributing to the renewable energy sector.
- Flexible working setup, including a mobile office arrangement of 40% per week.
- 30 days of vacation, with the option to add unpaid leave days.
- Modern workplace with an open, friendly atmosphere and space to share ideas.
- Learning and development support to help you grow personally and professionally.
- Team celebrations, events, and social gatherings.
- Employee Assistance Program with training and counselling focused on wellbeing.
- Location-dependent benefits may include capital-forming benefits, subsidized company pension plan, company bicycle leasing, and company fitness membership (EGYM Wellpass).
