Role overview
This contract position is for a Desktop Support Technician supporting laptop build and configuration work in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. The assignment runs for 6 months and is based onsite at the work location in M1W 3E8.
The main focus of the role is preparing laptops, completing remote sessions with customers through Teams, carrying out final configuration steps, confirming the device meets customer expectations, and then arranging shipment of the completed equipment.
Key duties
- Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair computer systems, hardware, and peripheral devices.
- Keep hardware and software records current, including updates, maintenance, and replacement activities.
- Manage user account details such as access permissions, security settings, and system groups.
- Provide employee support and training, diagnose product issues, and coordinate ordering or replacement of required parts.
- Recommend products or services that align with customer needs.
Experience and working style
- A post-secondary diploma or associate-level qualification, or an equivalent background, may be required.
- At least 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar or related technical support environment is expected.
- The role requires familiarity with standard industry concepts, methods, and procedures.
- The technician should be able to use experience and judgment to organize work and meet objectives.
- The job involves handling a range of complex tasks while working with general supervision.
- Some creativity and independent decision-making are needed.
