Data Analyst

Job Summary

This contract Data Analyst role supports enterprise initiatives by collecting, interpreting, and presenting data. The position also involves building computational tools and performing analyses that help inform organization-wide decision-making.

Core Responsibilities

• Partner with hospital leaders, sponsors, and other stakeholders to understand business objectives and data needs, with guidance as needed.
• Translate business problems into clear analytical questions that can be measured, quantified, and addressed through data.
• Collect information from multiple teams, systems, and data sources to assemble the inputs needed for project work.
• Run data queries independently, manage datasets, and perform quality checks to support analysis.
• Spot, record, and investigate data anomalies or inconsistencies discovered during analysis.
• Build presentations, reports, dashboards, and similar communication materials for leadership and stakeholders.
• Review operational and financial processes to add context and depth to analytical findings.
• Present conclusions to varied audiences in a way that turns technical findings into practical recommendations and action steps.
• Work closely with other analysts, project managers, and process engineers while reviewing deliverables and refining ideas.
• Maintain coordination across cross-functional teams handling complex and distributed datasets.
• Keep an ongoing line of communication with internal stakeholders about scope, timing, tasks, and progress.
• Deliver concise, professional written and verbal updates to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, administrative teams, physician leaders, and staff.
• Create executive-level dashboards that simplify and summarize complex data for management and administration.

Required Skills and Experience

• 2 to 4 years of experience using a scripting language such as R, Python, or Stata to create reproducible analyses and extract data.
• More than 2 years of experience writing SQL queries against large relational databases.
• Ability to gather, interpret, and work with large and complex data sources.
• Strong ability to convert detailed analysis into clear visual and written communication for audiences up to executive level.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities.
• Solid analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• 2 to 4 years of experience in clinical research or another healthcare setting.
• Working familiarity with Git or GitHub.
• Intermediate knowledge of project management, process improvement, or change management frameworks.
• Exposure to business intelligence tools such as Cognos, Tableau, or Microsoft Power BI.
• Comfort with financial data and financial analysis concepts.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Operations, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline is required. In place of a degree, 4 years of directly related work experience may be accepted. A master’s degree is preferred.
