About the Role
Wolfe Research, LLC is an independent sell-side research firm known for high-quality, objective research and a strong focus on serving institutional clients with precision and care. The firm emphasizes excellence, integrity, thoughtful client service, and ongoing development of talent.
The company is looking for an early-career, data-oriented Assistant to join its Operations team. The role centers on managing data, producing reports, and supporting automation efforts across the organization. In the beginning, the position will concentrate on administering, monitoring, integrating, and managing data processes across multiple business units. Over time, the scope is expected to expand into data engineering support, including work on pipelines, system-to-system integration, and documentation related to schemas, lineage, and catalogs.
This position is hybrid, with 3 days per week onsite on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in New York, NY.
Responsibilities
- Oversee administration of complex and sensitive data assets.
- Set up data monitoring systems that support and reinforce proper data management practices.
- Collaborate with Operations colleagues to streamline and automate data workflows.
- Partner with teams such as Finance, Research, Compliance, Sales, and Management to turn data into business insights that support decision-making.
- Contribute to systems integration efforts involving data movement and governance, in coordination with Product Management and Development.
- Handle ad hoc analysis and reporting, and help turn recurring work into repeatable reporting processes.
- Support machine learning-related initiatives within Operations as business needs grow.
- Act as a data resource for internal stakeholders by helping them understand available data, use it effectively, and improve their reporting capabilities for common use cases.
- Promote effective data practices across teams by sharing approaches that improve productivity and consistency.
Requirements
- Relevant academic coursework and 0 to 2 years of experience in data analysis.
- Strong logical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Experience collecting, organizing, and querying large and complex datasets.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Advanced SQL experience.
- Hands-on exposure to reporting platforms such as Power BI, Qlik, or Tableau.
- Experience with Power Automate.
- Understanding of data governance frameworks.
- Basic familiarity with version control tools such as GitHub.
- Basic Python knowledge is required; experience with Python libraries is preferred.
- Exposure to LLMs, NLP, machine learning, or AI is an added advantage.
- Proactive attitude with the ability to take initiative and anticipate issues.
- Reliable, accountable, and committed to delivering on time.
- Ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality in a fast-paced setting.
- Team-first mindset, including willingness to support production work when needed.
- Commitment to established Operations best practices.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary for this position is expected to fall between $90,000 and $115,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and location. In addition, the role includes an annual discretionary bonus and a competitive benefits package covering medical, dental, and vision insurance; life, accident, and disability coverage; paid vacation; sick leave; paid holidays; and paid parental leave.
