Role Overview
The Custodian will help maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment across the site. This position focuses on routine cleaning as well as heavier custodial work such as floor care, rug cleaning, wall and glass washing, and waste removal.
Key Duties
- Remove and sort waste in line with approved procedures and infection-control requirements.
- Dust and wet-mop floors using the prescribed methods.
- Relocate equipment and furniture to support thorough cleaning, then return items to their proper places.
- Clean assigned spaces using the provided tools and supplies, including disinfecting all surfaces.
- Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and similar fixtures to support a clean and safe setting for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Identify areas that need attention and proactively complete the cleaning work.
- Carry out additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors, and shampoo carpeting as needed.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant has prior experience in housekeeping or custodial work, although this is considered an advantage rather than a strict requirement. Familiarity with WHMIS and BSW certifications is also beneficial. Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written, are important, along with the ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. The role suits someone who can work independently, collaborate with a team, and handle the physical demands of the job.
