Role Purpose
This position is responsible for running daily kitchen operations efficiently while keeping mise en place in order and maintaining excellent kitchen cleanliness and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
- Check that ingredients and finished dishes are fresh and of good quality.
- Prepare food by following recipes and accurately measuring, weighing, and combining ingredients.
- Cook a range of foods by baking, grilling, steaming, and boiling meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other items.
- Plate, present, garnish, and arrange dishes attractively before service.
- Provide food service support when needed.
- Keep the work area clean and safe, including proper handling of utensils, equipment, and dishes.
- Store and manage ingredients and food correctly.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
- Clean and disinfect kitchen workspaces, tools, equipment, and utensils.
- Carry out opening and closing routines for the kitchen.
- Prepare workstations with the required ingredients and equipment.
- Inspect ingredient quality and freshness before use.
- Track inventory levels for the assigned station.
- Respond to guest requests and special dietary needs where possible.
- Use kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers safely and effectively.
Qualification and Experience
The role requires at least Grade 12 completion. A hospitality-related certification is an added advantage. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the hospitality industry in a similar role. Experience with Pilot or a related POS system will be considered an advantage.
