Role Overview
Join ByteDance’s foundational technology team in Singapore to help build the cloud-native infrastructure that supports the company’s product ecosystem. The group works on advanced infrastructure challenges such as Kubernetes cluster orchestration, runtime efficiency, multi-cloud and multi-cluster architectures, and the reliability of cloud-native systems. The team has also contributed open-source projects like Kubebrain and Katalyst, and continues to push research and development in resource pooling and elasticity.
This opening is intended for graduates starting in 2026. It offers the chance to work on technically demanding problems, contribute new ideas, and grow in a fast-moving engineering environment. Candidates must be available to begin onboarding by the end of 2026 and should clearly mention their graduation timeline and availability in the resume.
Responsibilities
- Design and improve the architecture of extremely large Kubernetes clusters.
- Build and optimize large-scale Kubernetes environments for performance and reliability.
- Strengthen control-plane and system stability in workloads involving big data and machine learning.
- Set, refine, and manage Kubernetes service-level objectives to improve operational reliability.
- Investigate end-to-end latency issues, pinpoint bottlenecks, and implement fixes in production.
- Develop observability capabilities that improve troubleshooting and issue diagnosis.
- Create and maintain observability data stores and use insights to drive cluster performance improvements.
Requirements
- Final-year student or recent graduate in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Exposure to cloud-native open-source development is preferred.
- Practical experience with containerized applications through internships, academic work, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with observability tools and platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or distributed tracing solutions.
- Understanding of big data or machine learning workflows running on Kubernetes is an advantage.
