Role Overview

This Assistant Support Worker position is based in Rooska West, Rooskagh West, County Limerick, Ireland, and is paid according to the company pay scale. The role is suited to a caring, motivated person who wants to help individuals build independence, confidence, and a more meaningful daily life.

Employees work across a 7-day roster, including shift work, as part of a 24-hour service. The role is centred on person-focused support and may involve varied duties depending on service needs.

What You Will Do

• Help individuals organise and manage day-to-day routines and activities.
• Support people to take part in their local community and access community-based activities.
• Assist with learning, skill-building, and progress toward personal targets and outcomes.
• Encourage and support independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, attending appointments, and maintaining family and social relationships.
• Follow company policies, procedures, standards, regulations, and codes of practice as required.
• Work flexibly across rotating shifts to meet service and individual needs.
• Take on additional reasonable duties relevant to the role when needed.

Who the Service Supports

The team works with individuals with a variety of complex support needs, including autism, Asperger syndrome, acquired brain injuries, challenging behaviour, intellectual disabilities with Alzheimer’s or dementia, mental health rehabilitation and recovery needs, and personality disorders.

What We’re Looking For

• No formal qualification is necessary, as full training and ongoing development will be provided.
• Experience in a support role is helpful, but not essential; relevant life experience is also welcome.
• A positive mindset, willingness to learn, and a genuine commitment to helping people live independently and well.
• Good communication and people skills, with the ability to build respectful relationships with individuals, families, colleagues, and professionals.
• Either hold a full driving licence or be actively working toward obtaining one.
• Be dependable and flexible enough to work varied shifts as required by the service.
