Role Overview
This position is focused on shift-based in-process quality control within solar cell manufacturing. The role involves checking production stages, spotting deviations, capturing and analyzing quality data, supporting corrective measures, training production teams, and contributing to ongoing process improvement.
Safety
Safety awareness is an essential part of the role, and the person in this position is expected to uphold and encourage safe working practices while carrying out inspections and quality-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Carry out shift-wise in-process inspections and make sure quality standards are met at stages such as texturing, anti-reflective coating application, and metallization.
- Track key process parameters and identify any variation from approved standards.
- Observe production activity to detect quality concerns and share findings with the Cluster Manager - IPQA.
- Support the implementation of corrective actions for quality deviations found during the process.
- Check and validate test outcomes, and when needed, calibrate AOI equipment, IV curve testers, weighing balances, and other measurement instruments.
- Provide defect teaching for AOI and breakage camera systems.
- Compare process outcomes with competitor cell benchmarks.
- Maintain accurate in-process quality records and perform basic analysis to identify patterns or recurring issues.
- Submit quality data and observations to the Cluster Manager - IPQA for deeper review and action.
- Ensure incoming materials meet applicable industry requirements and product specifications.
- Stay current on inspection methods, quality norms, and standards related to solar cell production.
- Train production team members on in-process quality procedures and expected standards as part of on-the-job support.
- Promote consistent use of quality practices across shifts and production lines.
- Work with the IPQA team to identify process improvements and contribute to quality enhancement initiatives.
- Participate in quality projects and continuous improvement activities.
Stakeholder Interaction
- Internal stakeholders include the Cluster Manager - IPQA, Shift Engineer - Cluster - FQA, Shift Engineer - Cluster - Incoming, Production Supervisors, Maintenance Team, and Process Improvement Team.
- External stakeholders include Process Equipment Suppliers, Quality Consultants, and Regulatory Agencies.
Qualifications
A Diploma or a B.E./B.Tech degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering is required.
Experience
Candidates should have 2 to 5 years of experience in production or quality assurance, with a focus on in-process inspections.
