Role overview
This opportunity is to join a newly formed team within the Community Autism Service. As the Band 3 CAS Administrator, you will help establish the service and influence both the shape of the role and the administrative routines as the team grows.
The post supports a multidisciplinary team delivering person-centred care for autistic adults in Lambeth, Southwark, and Lewisham. Based at the Outpatient Department at Maudsley Hospital, the role is part-time and focused on keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly.
You will be a key contact for families, carers, and professionals, while also managing the administrative elements of the Trust patient database and contributing to a responsive, inclusive, high-quality service.
Work location and hours
This position is based at the Maudsley Outpatient Department and requires attendance on site. The role is for 15 hours per week. Flexible working can be considered, including spreading the hours across multiple days, and the team will agree suitable working days with the successful candidate. Availability on Wednesdays is essential.
Main purpose of the post
The successful candidate will provide proactive and wide-ranging administrative support to a multidisciplinary team, helping the service function efficiently and effectively.
As the first point of contact for families, carers, and wider support networks, the administrator will help create a positive experience for service users and support the service’s public image.
Administrative duties
The role includes managing the administrative side of the Trust patient database, such as entering referral and patient details, checking records, and maintaining data quality.
About the Community Autism Service
The Community Autism Service is a new provision developed with commissioners, staff, and Experts by Experience. It was created to address a gap in services for autistic adults across Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark.
The service is designed for autistic people who are unable to access other services, such as mental health or learning disability services, but would benefit from specialist autism-focused assessment and therapeutic support.
About the Trust
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust delivers the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK, along with substance misuse services for people affected by drug and alcohol addiction. The Trust works in partnership with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London and is part of King’s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre.
The organisation brings together care and treatment, science and research, and training, giving it a broad and distinctive role in mental health services.
