Role Overview

This engineering position is focused on keeping plant electrical systems and supporting utilities reliable, compliant, and safe in a regulated manufacturing environment. The role covers operations, preventive upkeep, troubleshooting, documentation, energy efficiency, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain uninterrupted electrical supply to essential areas such as production, quality control, warehouse, and utilities. Oversee and service HT/LT panels, transformers, diesel generator sets, UPS systems, and battery banks. Monitor electrical loading, balance distribution, and manage source changeovers between mains, DG, and UPS so critical equipment remains online.

Plan and carry out preventive maintenance for all electrical assets, along with predictive checks such as thermography, insulation resistance testing, vibration analysis, and current analysis. Aim to eliminate unplanned failures in critical utilities that support manufacturing and HVAC systems.

Respond to electrical breakdowns within the required time and resolve issues in motors, VFDs, PLC panels, SCADA systems, control circuits, and sensors. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective as well as preventive actions.

Handle calibration-related support for electrical instruments and for sensors/transmitters used for temperature, humidity, and differential pressure in HVAC applications. Keep documentation aligned with cGMP standards and support audits from USFDA, MHRA, and internal review teams with accurate records and evidence.

Ensure electrical installations meet safety expectations, including earthing/grounding, lightning protection, and panel safety. Put lockout/tagout and permit-to-work practices into action, and participate in electrical safety reviews and risk assessments.

Support electrical needs for HVAC equipment such as AHUs and chillers, water systems including purified water and WFI, and compressed air systems. Maintain dependable power support for all critical GMP utilities.

Track energy usage on a daily and monthly basis and contribute to cost and energy reduction measures such as LED upgrades, power factor improvement, and demand control. Back sustainability and expense-optimization initiatives.

Maintain logs and records including daily logbooks, breakdown reports, and preventive maintenance documentation. Draft SOPs, checklists, and work instructions, ensuring all records follow ALCOA/data integrity principles.

Assist with installation and commissioning of new systems and provide support during qualification and validation activities wherever electrical systems influence the process. Take part in Kaizen, TPM, and Jishu Hozen activities aimed at improving reliability and performance.

Work closely with production for shutdown planning, with QA for compliance needs, and with external vendors for maintenance execution. Supervise contractors while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

A Diploma, B.Tech, or B.E. in Electrical Engineering is required.

The expected experience level is 6 to 8 years for the Team Member level, ideally gained in pharmaceutical, API, or OSD manufacturing environments. Candidates from highly regulated industries are preferred.
