Role overview
This Auckland-based opportunity sits within Woolworths Group and offers the chance to contribute visibly to a business of around A$60 billion in scale. The role is focused on shaping and delivering important strategic initiatives across individual divisions and the wider portfolio.
This is a permanent full-time position with a 40-hour working week and flexible hybrid working arrangements.
The salary is approximately $90,000 to $110,000, depending on experience. The role spans a wide range of business areas, including Retail Commercial, Retail Store Operations, eCommerce, Loyalty, Retail Media, Team/People, Primary Connect, Property Development and Franchise.

What you will do
The Strategy team is responsible for producing high-quality strategic plans and projects across functions and the broader portfolio. Reporting to the General Manager, Strategy, you will take ownership of key workstreams, carry out analysis, provide strategic input and support internal stakeholders.
- Prepare reporting and communications for strategic initiatives.
- Track macroeconomic, market, industry and customer trends, and proactively share relevant updates.
- Perform detailed analysis to uncover useful business insights.
- Help solve complex business questions using a hypothesis-led approach.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects and help ensure strategic initiatives are fully embedded.
- Work with colleagues to turn insights and recommendations into practical action.
What you will bring
The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded professional with strong strategic thinking, analytical capability and interpersonal skills. A customer-first mindset, strong drive and results orientation are essential.
- At least 2 years of experience in a leading strategy consultancy, Big Four consultancy, investment bank or corporate strategy team.
- Experience in consumer markets is an advantage, and retail experience is beneficial.
- A strong academic background with notable extracurricular achievements.
- Experience in analytics and quantitative modelling, with advanced capability in Google Sheets or MS Excel, Google Slides or MS PowerPoint, and Thinkcell.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus strong relationship-building and influencing ability across all levels of an organisation.
- A self-driven, adaptable and curious approach, with comfort working through ambiguity and a bias toward getting things done.
