About the Role
Stage 3 Separation focuses on high-quality solids control systems for mud applications, helping customers manage solids efficiently, lower operating costs, and support limited or zero-discharge solutions when needed. The company also relies on a specialized team of field technicians, supervisors, engineers, and scientists to guide job execution with practical, cost-conscious recommendations.

What You’ll Do
Working under the guidance of the Field Leader(s), the Solids Control Field Technician supports mechanical processes that improve drilling performance and help recycle drilling fluids through closed-loop and other mud systems. Training will be provided on a range of specialized Stage 3 equipment.
- Work on a 14-days-on / 7-days-off rotation, with schedules varying by project site.
- Complete 12-hour shifts, including overtime when required.
- Be available for swing shifts running from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM or 12:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with shadowing from an experienced technician and field leader during training.
- Travel within Canada to remote work locations as needed.
- Support one or more projects at a time depending on operational needs.
- Learn to rig up and rig down solids control equipment.
- Operate equipment such as shaker tanks, centrifuges, drying units, and pumps.
- Build working knowledge of environmental services and basic electrical concepts.
- Develop understanding of drilling fluid characteristics such as mud weight, funnel viscosity, and retort analysis, and carry out fluid testing.
- Learn and assist with services including air drilling, barite recovery, de-watering, floc water, fluid transfer, low-gravity solids targeting, cuttings drying, and invert recovery.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic electrical service on equipment.
- Operate heavy machinery safely under supervision, including certification-based operation.
- Keep the work area clean using pressure washing equipment.
- Take part in daily safety meetings and follow all site safety rules.
- Complete required daily documentation such as PJRA/JSA forms, inspection reports, observation reports, and checklists.
- Carry out other duties as assigned, which may change over time.

- Readiness to obtain rig safety certifications such as H2S, WHMIS, LOTO, and CPR/First Aid.
- Ability to work outdoors in cold, wet, and hot weather.
- Willingness to remain away from home for 14 days or longer during rotations.
- Comfort living in shared quarters and keeping them clean and organized.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Progression to Field Level 1 after passing a performance review and competency tests.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- An associate degree or technical diploma in technology, electronics, mechanics, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous forklift, excavator, or wheel loader experience or certification is preferred; training will be provided before site deployment.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, are required.
- A valid provincial driver’s license, valid insurance, and a clean driving record with low to zero demerits are required.
- A valid driver’s license is required: Class 5 in AB/BC/SK, Class G in ON, or an equivalent license in another province/territory.
- Because this is a safety-sensitive role, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing may be required.
- At least 1 year of solids control experience is required.
- At least 1 year of experience in dewatering or water-based mud/transfer work is required.
- Experience using shaker tanks, centrifuges, drying equipment, and pumps is preferred.
- Prior heavy equipment experience is preferred.
- Previous safety certifications such as WHMIS, H2S, CPR/First Aid, and LOTO are preferred.
- Basic knowledge of drilling fluid properties is preferred.
