Software Engineer, Payments Data Platform

Role overview

Join Google’s Payments organization in Singapore to help shape the data foundation behind consumer payments. This role centers on building and improving core data infrastructure and internal tooling that supports decisions, product development, and analytics across the Payments business. The team works on technologies that make payments simple, secure, and dependable, including digital payment experiences and money movement between Google and consumers or businesses.

The engineering work is broad and high-impact, covering large-scale systems, data reliability, scalability, compliance, and self-service capabilities for product and analyst teams. You will be expected to bring strong technical judgment, adaptability, and a willingness to work across the stack on evolving business needs.

Work authorization note

Preference will be given to candidates who already have the legal right to work in Singapore and do not need visa sponsorship from Google.

Minimum qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, a closely related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, or Go.
• Practical experience building or working with large-scale data processing systems and distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications

• Advanced academic background such as a master’s degree or PhD in computer science or a related technical field.
• Exposure to Google’s internal data technologies.
• Experience working on payment-related products.
• Background in full-stack development.

Responsibilities

• Build, design, and launch data pipelines and supporting infrastructure.
• Own technical challenges end to end, from early exploration and analysis through solution design and delivery.
• Work closely with product managers, data scientists, analysts, and feature engineering teams to translate business needs into effective data solutions.
• Spot opportunities to make the platform faster, more reliable, and easier for developers to use, while also reducing technical debt.
• Promote strong engineering practices in data systems, including testing, monitoring, scalability, and operational reliability for GDP systems.
