Role overview
This role is suited to someone who enjoys working with electrical systems, mechanical equipment, and hydraulics, and who wants to help keep wind turbines operating reliably. You will be part of a global renewable energy business focused on supporting the shift to cleaner power.
As a Service Technician, you will use your technical background while receiving structured training to further build your capability. Safety is treated as a core value and is embedded in everyday work practices.
Service focus
The service team is responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance and operational support to wind farms across New Zealand.
Work location and schedule
- Main work areas: Turitea WF and Tararua WF, Palmerston North / Manawatū region
- This position is not FIFO; candidates must be based in the region
- Typical working pattern: 8 hours per day
- Weekend on-call duty is expected roughly once every 3 to 4 weeks
- Approximate travel requirement: 50 days per year
Key responsibilities
You will carry out service and maintenance work on wind turbines while meeting safety, environmental, and operational targets.
The position involves inspections, troubleshooting, component replacement, and supporting turbine performance through monitoring systems and remote-control tools.
You will also keep the service vehicle and warehouse supplies organised by arranging materials, tools, and spare parts when needed.
Where required, you will assemble and service parts in line with current standards and instructions, using cranes whether internal or external if the task calls for it.
Qualifications and experience
- A trade background in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic work, with a strong interest in building further skills in these areas
- Comfortable using computers and working with systems used for work tracking and documentation
- Strong written and spoken English
- A valid driver's licence

- Ability to climb wind turbines and perform physically demanding work at heights and in changing weather conditions
- Willingness to travel to other sites when necessary
