Role Overview
This full-time, on-site position in Harare is for a Quantity Surveyor who will support the financial and commercial management of construction projects. The role involves preparing and checking Bills of Quantities (BOQs), taking measurements, assisting with tender preparation and assessments, and tracking project costs. You will also update cost plans, produce regular cost reports, manage variations, certify payments, and work alongside project managers, engineers, and suppliers to maintain accurate cost control across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review Bills of Quantities with accuracy.
- Carry out measurements and quantity take-offs for project works.
- Support the preparation and evaluation of tender documents.
- Monitor project expenditure and maintain up-to-date cost records.
- Develop, update, and track cost plans throughout the project.
- Produce regular cost reports to support decision-making.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers on commercial matters.
- Assess and manage variations as projects progress.
- Certify payments and help ensure correct financial control.
- Contribute to effective cost management from project start to completion.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Solid knowledge of cost control and broader cost management practices.
- Hands-on experience with BOQ preparation, measurement, and tender documentation.
- Ability to build and maintain cost planning and reporting processes.
- Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a closely related discipline.
- Working knowledge of industry-standard quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Understanding of construction contracts, procurement approaches, and local building regulations.
- Strong analytical and numerical ability, with keen attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Capacity to work on site and meet deadlines in a project-driven environment.
