Overview
A renewable energy company based in Galway is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. The role is centred on pricing, cost management, and commercial review for electrical infrastructure projects. Although the position is mainly focused on internal delivery, it also contributes to client growth by helping create accurate, competitive, and commercially sound proposals.
Core duties
In this role, you will build estimates, support tender work, and help keep project pricing aligned with both budgets and business goals.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for industrial and commercial renewable energy projects.
- Produce bills of quantities and structured pricing schedules.
- Review and compare pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Keep cost records and historical pricing data up to date for reference and benchmarking.
- Assist with tender submissions aimed at securing new clients and repeat work.
- Contribute cost input for client meetings and value-engineering discussions.
- Help answer technical and commercial questions raised during the tender process.
- Support pricing approaches that fit client budgets and project targets.
- Examine drawings, specifications, and scope documents to verify pricing accuracy.
- Work alongside Engineering and Procurement teams to coordinate commercial inputs.
- Help identify risks, plan contingencies, and review tenders after submission.
Required background
The client is seeking someone with QS experience from renewable energy or construction, along with strong commercial judgement and technical awareness.
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in renewable energy or construction.
- Good numerical, analytical, and Excel capability.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Understanding of EPC project cost structures.
- Exposure to renewable energy systems.
- A qualification in Quantity Surveying or Engineering.
- Experience in commercial or client-facing tender environments.
- A careful, detail-driven, and methodical approach.
- Commercial awareness and a cost-conscious mindset.
- Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to support wider business objectives.
- Comfort working to tender deadlines.
