Role overview
We are seeking Quantity Surveyors to support the Southern Water team, working across the Falmer and Chatham locations. This position sits within a major £3.1bn Strategic Development Partnership with Southern Water and offers the chance to contribute to important water infrastructure work while developing professionally in a team that values wellbeing and input.
The role is based in Falmer / Chatham, with remote working available, but you will need to be on site for 3 days each week. The standard full-time equivalent is 40 hours per week, and flexible arrangements such as condensed hours, part-time working, or job share can be considered.
Please note that sponsorship certificates cannot be provided for this position.
Key responsibilities
In this commercial role, you will help manage project costs and ensure value is protected throughout delivery. Your work will involve financial administration, collaboration with stakeholders, and support for contractual and procurement processes.
- Oversee project financial activity, including payment applications and cost monitoring.
- Maintain effective working relationships with subcontractors and clients to support smooth commercial administration.
- Assist with procurement tasks and prepare commercial assessments.
- Track changes and contribute to the change control process.
- Make sure contractual notices and related requirements are issued correctly.
What we're looking for
The ideal candidate will bring experience from commercial or quantity surveying work, particularly in environments linked to construction, water, or civil infrastructure. Familiarity with NEC contracts using target cost arrangements is especially relevant.
You should be comfortable working with others across teams, confident in client-facing communication, and capable of using Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel. Strong relationship-building skills are important in this position.
Kier welcomes transferable skills, so candidates who do not meet every requirement are still encouraged to apply and discuss their background.
