Role Overview

Chevron ENGINE is hiring a Quality Engineer for the Discipline Engineering team. The role reports to the Discipline Engineering Manager and is based in Chevron’s Bengaluru office.

This position supports global operations, so working hours are aligned to business requirements. Standard shifts are either 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and these may change depending on operational needs. International travel and work outside normal business hours may also be needed to support customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with downstream, upstream, and project teams across time zones to advise on advanced NDE techniques, including ultrasonics, electromagnetics, and radiography.
  • Carry out advanced NDE inspections at site locations for critical fitness-for-service assessments and cost-efficient solutions across business units and global projects.
  • Promote non-intrusive inspections for facilities and projects by guiding teams and performing advanced inspections that improve turnaround performance.
  • Support business units and projects in a risk-based approach to Chevron’s Performance Demonstration Qualification process for contractor NDE personnel.
  • Review NDE procedures in detail and witness qualifications against relevant codes and standards.
  • Provide NDE training to business units, projects, and project partners such as EPC organizations, along with certification support.
  • Research and evaluate new and emerging NDE technologies that have a direct effect on process safety.
  • Actively participate as a core member of Chevron’s Community of Practice and contribute to regional JIPs and consortiums in the NDE field.
  • Create and maintain risk-based NDE management systems, plans, and tools with internal and external partners, while providing oversight and assurance for project, facility, and turnaround activities.
  • Lead and contribute to NDE assurance activities, cross-functional teams, and industry committees.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized AICTE-affiliated university in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering.
  • At least 10 years of hands-on field experience in advanced ultrasonics and electromagnetics, with strong exposure to phased array ultrasonics and remote field testing.
  • Advanced certifications in ultrasonics and electromagnetics, with Level III preferred and Level II as the minimum in UT, ET, and RT.
  • Certification in phased array ultrasonics, time of flight diffraction, and high temperature hydrogen attack.
  • Experience qualifying and validating automated ultrasonic testing systems to DNV-ST-F101 and RP-118.
  • Practical experience with computer radiography and digital radiography.
  • Understanding of petrochemical damage mechanisms such as high temperature hydrogen attack and hydrogen induced cracking, along with experience using advanced ultrasonics to detect them.
  • Successful completion of Chevron Performance Demonstration Qualifications or ASNT-equivalent ISQ examinations for ultrasonic and electromagnetic methods.
  • Working knowledge of additional NDE methods such as magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, acoustic emission, and visual testing.
