Gerdau is a major mini-mill steel producer and steel recycler in North America, with annual manufacturing capacity of about 10 million metric tons of mill-finished steel products. Operating through a network of mini-mills, scrap recycling facilities, and downstream businesses, the company supplies customers across the U.S. and Canada with merchant steel, rebar, structural shapes, fabricated steel, flat rolled steel, and wire rod. Work schedule and compensation
- The role requires 12-hour rotating day and night shifts on a continental schedule.
- Weekly hours are approximately 40 to 42.
- The pay rate is $36.33 per hour.
- The job offers a path to learn senior-level tasks, cover absences within the department, and progress into more advanced roles based on seniority.
Responsibilities
- Carry out physical production work in a manufacturing environment.
- Support operations involving large, complex industrial equipment.
- Provide relief coverage for absent team members when needed.
- Learn and take on more senior duties within the department over time.
- Advance into higher-responsibility roles as seniority increases.
Qualifications
- This role involves physical labour, standing throughout the day, and working in outdoor temperatures.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing setting is required.
- Experience operating mobile equipment is needed.
- Ability to operate an overhead crane is an advantage.
- Strong teamwork skills are essential.
- A Grade 12 diploma or GED is required.
- Excellent communication skills, solid math ability, strong attention to detail, and a good work ethic are expected.
