About the Role
Opendoor is seeking a designer to take full ownership of a product experience. In this role, you will be embedded in a product pod and expected to operate with the same level of ownership as the first designer on the team. You will help shape what a strong user experience should feel like, look like, and ultimately accomplish.
The team is building for a fast-moving environment where anyone can ship. Success in this role depends on strong judgment and empathy, which you will use to decide what should be built, why it matters, and how to make the experience feel effortless for the user.
What You’ll Do
- Own a product experience from early user discovery through launch and ongoing refinement.
- Work directly with users to understand their problems, challenge assumptions when needed, and stay involved until the final experience is truly right.
- Partner closely with product managers and engineers to shape direction together rather than waiting for instructions.
- Help sharpen problem statements by stepping into product thinking when useful, and refine interaction details by collaborating closely with engineering.
- Stay effective in changing conditions where priorities move and scope is fluid.
Working Style
- This is not a role focused on a single task for months at a time.
