About the Role
This role sits within Notion’s People Analytics & Operations team as an 18-month rotational program. The team serves as the analytics and operations backbone behind people decisions across the company. The program is designed for people who learn quickly, take initiative, and are energized by using AI to improve how work gets done.
Across the rotation, you will gain hands-on experience in people operations, people analytics, and compensation/benefits. The work is real and high ownership: you will build executive-facing dashboards, write SQL for headcount modeling, manage employee lifecycle work in Workday, coordinate onboarding and offboarding, and improve internal workflows with AI-enabled automation. You will also work closely with a senior operator who will help sharpen your craft.
At the end of the 18 months, you will choose a long-term focus area and transition into a permanent role within the People organization, such as People Analytics, People Operations, Total Rewards, or a broader people generalist path.
What You Will Do
- Develop reporting and analysis that power headcount, attrition, and hiring funnel dashboards by turning raw people data from Workday and Snowflake into actionable insights.
- Support day-to-day HR operations by processing employee lifecycle changes in Workday, coordinating onboarding and offboarding, responding to employee requests, and maintaining clean, audit-ready data.
- Translate ambiguous people questions into clear recommendations by gathering data, analyzing trends, and presenting a well-structured narrative to senior stakeholders.
- Identify repetitive HR tasks and design AI-supported workflows that reduce manual effort, such as automated routing, AI-based ticket triage, and self-running compliance reminders.
- Serve as the People team’s Notion specialist by creating and maintaining pages, databases, dashboards, views, and operating systems that others rely on.
What You Need
- Strong SQL ability, including joining, filtering, aggregating, transforming data, and debugging incorrect outputs.
- Comfort with quantitative problem-solving and analytical storytelling, ideally grounded in studies or experience in business, economics, statistics, or mathematics.
- A self-directed, fast-moving approach to work, especially when handling ambiguity or broken processes.
- Comfort using AI tools as a practical productivity multiplier in everyday work.
- Deep familiarity with Notion and the ability to build effective structures inside it.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Basic Python knowledge, including an understanding of loops.
- Exposure to Workday, Snowflake, or similar HR systems and data platforms.
- Background in business operations, finance operations, or sales operations; internship experience is acceptable.
Compensation
For San Francisco-based candidates, the estimated base pay range is $40.87 to $59.62 per hour. Final compensation may vary depending on the role’s scope, location, and the candidate’s experience and expertise. The company also offers competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits.
