Role overview
This is a 12-month fixed-term Payroll Officer position based in Perth CBD. The role is centred on delivering an accurate, dependable, and employee-friendly payroll service while keeping records current and offering practical guidance to internal stakeholders.
Key duties
- Maintain employee payroll information with accuracy and care so records remain complete and current.
- Process fortnightly payroll cycles correctly and within deadline to support a smooth pay experience for employees.
- Respond to employee questions on payroll topics such as leave, superannuation, tax, salary packaging, and end-of-employment matters.
- Plan work independently, stay organised, and manage competing priorities effectively, especially during busy periods.
- Use knowledge of agreements, procedures, policies, and legislation to support compliant and consistent payroll outcomes.
- Adapt to change and look for practical improvements that can make payroll services better over time.
What will help you succeed
- Hands-on payroll processing experience, including interpreting awards, handling rostering or shift-based work, and managing timesheets.
- Working knowledge of Australian payroll laws and enterprise agreements, with the ability to apply them in day-to-day work.
- A high level of accuracy and a track record of delivering quality output under tight timelines.
- Intermediate Excel capability, including using data to identify trends or support improvements.
- A service-oriented mindset and experience with payroll systems; SAP experience is especially valued.
