Role Overview
The Production Packer in Chilliwack plays an important support role in helping reduce production interruptions and assisting the Production Supervisor or Line Lead Hand with planning and day-to-day production support. The position contributes to team engagement, productivity, safety, and product quality in a unionized manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Help maintain Puratos safety and quality systems by following procedures, meeting GMP expectations, and taking part in training.
- Step in as needed to meet daily production goals, including covering breaks and both planned and unplanned absences.
- Work independently when required and also cooperate effectively with coworkers.
- Be able to bend and lift up to 60 lbs as part of the role.
- Respond quickly to unexpected equipment issues, troubleshoot problems, and decide when Maintenance support is needed.
- Apply QA, HACCP, Food Safety, and SQF 2000 standards throughout production activities.
- Support the creation of SOPs and standard work documents, learn procedures thoroughly, and help ensure others follow them.
- Take part in toolbox meetings with the team.
- Promote a respectful, safe, and healthy workplace for all staff.
- Build strong working relationships across departments.
- Stand for at least eight hours during the workday.
- Encourage safe work habits by enforcing safety procedures and helping develop practical safety improvements where needed.
- Assist in putting the company’s health and safety program into practice.
- Contribute ideas for continuous improvement in methods, performance, quality, and efficiency.
- Identify and help implement cost-saving opportunities.
- Handle chemicals safely and use manual or electric pallet jacks appropriately.
- Act as a safety-minded team member who looks out for others.
- Immediately report any quality or safety concerns.
- Carry out other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

- This role involves handling materials and supporting safe machine operation and product handling.
- Keep the machine area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Take care around moving machine parts and avoid getting caught in any mechanisms.
- Never remove or disable protective devices required by the employer or regulations.
- Do not operate equipment or perform work in a way that could endanger any worker.
- Report known workplace hazards to the employer or supervisor.

Skills, Education, and Experience
- Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
- Strong attendance and punctuality.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate one-on-one and in group settings.
- Comfort with numbers and basic math.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical ability, including equipment and mechanical troubleshooting.

- Experience working in a culturally diverse workplace.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and internet-based applications.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when needed.
Compensation and Benefits
