Descrição da vaga

Role overview

This contract opportunity is for a biology research scientist to support model-driven drug discovery work from a fully remote setup. The assignment focuses on checking protein target mappings in large bioactivity resources and validating UniProt identifiers using scientific literature and patent evidence.

What you will do

  • Review and confirm protein target assignments in large-scale bioactivity datasets such as ChEMBL and BindingDB.
  • Cross-check UniProt identifier accuracy using primary research papers and patent documents.
  • Contribute evidence-based scientific judgments that help improve drug discovery pipelines.
  • Work with researchers building next-generation discovery systems in a collaborative environment.

Working arrangement

  • Fully remote engagement with a schedule you can manage independently.
  • Immediate joining is available.
  • The expected time commitment is 10 to 20 hours per week.
  • Minimum engagement length is 1 to 2 months, with a strong chance of extension.
  • Payment is made weekly through Stripe or Wise, and the work is handled as an independent contractor arrangement.

Who this role is for

The opportunity is open to scientists at BA/BS, MS, and PhD levels, across different experience levels, provided they have the required research background and hands-on experimental exposure.

Requirements

  • A degree in pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or chemical biology.
  • Relevant exposure from industry, drug discovery, or CRO settings.
  • Current bench-level involvement in a research scientist or associate scientist role.
  • Practical experience with binding or functional assay formats such as SPR, TR-FRET, radioligand binding, kinase assays, GPCR functional assays, and IC50/Ki/KD measurements.
  • Comfort working with UniProt and related workflows such as SAR support, HTS, target validation, or biochemical profiling.
  • Strong ability to assess primary literature critically, identify error types using structured taxonomy, and produce short, evidence-based scientific notes.
  • Experience with ChEMBL, BindingDB, or PubChem is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of selectivity profiling, counterscreening, or agonist/antagonist pharmacology is beneficial.

Application process

  • Submit the application form with the requested details.
  • Applications will be reviewed against the role criteria.
  • Shortlisted candidates will receive an email with further instructions.
  • Follow the emailed steps to complete the remaining application process.
