The Core Models team is focused on shaping the way our models communicate with people. We think of the model itself as the product, and we aim to create interactions that feel natural, intuitive, and unexpectedly delightful.

About the Role

As a Model Designer, you will play a major role in defining how our models respond, interact, and connect with users.

The work requires carefully balancing strong model capability with the ability to interpret what users really mean, while also protecting and strengthening user trust.

This position is for people who are excited by the overlap of design, technology, and user experience, and who want to help shape new ways humans and AI work together.

The role is based in San Francisco, CA. The company follows a hybrid schedule with three office days each week and provides relocation support for new hires.

What You’ll Do

• Work side by side with researchers to understand, anticipate, and shape model behavior.
• Coordinate with product managers and designers across the organization to keep the model’s voice and approach consistent.
• Identify opportunities to improve model quality using product judgment, user feedback, data insights, and the research roadmap.
• Develop inventive methods for gathering strong, useful training data.
• Take ownership of whatever is needed to help improve the models.

Compensation

The compensation range for this role is $266K to $295K.
