About AWC Water Solutions
AWC Water Solutions Ltd. delivers integrated solutions for water and wastewater treatment plants, along with a range of specialized industrial packaged systems. The company combines in-house engineering and design, 3D modeling, piloting, fabrication, machining, control panel manufacturing, and field services to provide complete turn-key project support.
Role Summary
AWC Water Solutions is hiring an experienced Materials Planner to join its supply chain function in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role requires a strong background in materials planning, BOM management, inventory strategy, procurement, and ERP systems within a manufacturing setting. The position will also support materials planning activities during AWC’s ERP implementation.
The Materials Planner will work across Engineering, Procurement, and Operations to make sure materials are planned, purchased, tracked, and available on time throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Engineering to break down project BOMs into material demand, trigger procurement actions on time, and flag long-lead or high-risk items early.
- Assist with procurement by reviewing purchase requisitions, supporting purchase order placement, and coordinating with suppliers to keep project schedules on track.
- Track open purchase orders, follow up on deliveries, and help resolve delays or mismatches with the Procurement team.
- Own and improve a centralized parts master database by maintaining accurate item details, descriptions, units of measure, and supplier connections across the business.
- Create and apply inventory control approaches such as stocking rules, reorder points, and safety stock levels suited to an engineer-to-order environment.
- Coordinate with Materials Management and Receiving to synchronize pick schedules, manage inbound receipts, and keep inventory records accurate.
- Support supplier communication by expediting urgent materials and maintaining clear updates on order progress and requirements.
- Act as a subject matter resource for ERP scoping and rollout, including data preparation, migration, process design, and user acceptance support.
- Help create and document materials handling procedures, workflows, and data standards.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business (B.Comm), or a related field, with SCMP designation required.
- At least 5 years of experience in materials planning, procurement, or supply chain work in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on procurement and buying experience, including purchase order management, supplier coordination, and inbound logistics.
- Strong knowledge of BOM structures, MRP logic, and inventory management fundamentals.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or NetSuite is considered an advantage; exposure to InEight is a plus.
- Experience with Power BI, SharePoint-based reporting, and Power Automate is highly valued.
- Experience in water or wastewater treatment, or in similarly complex engineer-to-order manufacturing, is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and organizational abilities, with the capacity to juggle multiple priorities across several active projects.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation package with base pay, bonus plan, extended health coverage, and participation in a Group RRSP program.
- Recognition-focused culture that regularly acknowledges individual and team achievements.
- Social and welcoming workplace with frequent team events and opportunities to connect.
- Complimentary snacks and refreshments in staff rooms.
- Support for professional growth, further education, and fitness and wellness subsidies.
