Role Overview

ALS Oil & Lubricants in Lower Hutt, Wellington is hiring a Laboratory Technician for its fast-moving laboratory team. This position suits someone who values precision, takes ownership of quality, and performs well in a busy environment.

In this role, you will carry out analytical testing on oil, fuel, and coolant samples used to monitor the condition of heavy mining equipment and machinery. Your work will contribute to timely, safe, and accurate reporting. Full training will be provided on the relevant instruments, systems, and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out chemical and physical analysis of oil, fuel, and coolant samples.
• Use specialised laboratory equipment to complete a range of analytical tests.
• Enter sample details and test outcomes accurately into the LIMS platform.
• Work in accordance with ALS quality procedures, work instructions, and QA/QC standards.
• Follow laboratory safety requirements and maintain safe working practices.
• Help the wider team meet quality and turnaround targets.

Experience and Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in an oils laboratory or a production-based industry is preferred.
• Tertiary, polytechnic, or accredited laboratory training, completed or in progress, is preferred.
• Basic computer literacy is required; internal systems training will be provided.
