Role overview

The Laboratory Analyst will carry out routine microbiology laboratory work, including environmental monitoring of cleanrooms, microbial testing of site utilities, and analysis of raw materials, commercial batches, clinical batches, and development batches. The role also includes overseeing microbial testing of Allergan products as part of the Global Stability programme. All monitoring and testing must follow applicable regulatory standards.

Core laboratory duties

  • Carry out environmental monitoring activities in controlled areas.
  • Collect and process water samples.
  • Perform bioburden, endotoxin, growth promotion, in-process, sterility, APET, and antibiotic assay testing.
  • Prepare clear and accurate written reports.
  • Author and update controlled documents such as SOPs, protocols, training materials, investigations, reports, CAPAs, and deviation records.
  • Review data trends and investigate results that are out of specification or otherwise adverse.
  • Support validation work for equipment and microbiology test methods.

Qualifications and experience

  • A third-level qualification in Microbiology, or a closely related scientific discipline, is required.
  • At least 12 months' experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred, ideally in aseptic processing.
  • Candidates should have working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and sterile processing.
  • A strong background in aseptics and/or microbiology is expected.
