Role overview
Join a major Australian media organisation as a Journalist based in Bunbury, Western Australia. This role sits within a regional newsroom and focuses on producing timely broadcast news content for a key market.
The position reports to the WA News Editor and is suited to a journalist who is confident across the full reporting process, from finding story ideas through to writing, voicing and delivering news material to deadline.
Key responsibilities
- Develop original daily story angles suitable for on-air news coverage.
- Conduct interviews, write scripts and voice news stories.
- Build and maintain strong contacts within the local community.
- Research topics thoroughly and prepare accurate news reports.
- Work professionally with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
What you will need
- Hands-on experience producing news stories.
- A degree or other tertiary qualification in journalism or communications.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- The capacity to consistently meet very tight deadlines.
- Working knowledge of broadcast law and newsroom compliance requirements.
- A self-driven approach, with strong organisation and time management skills.
- A creative, energetic mindset and a solid understanding of journalism practices.
