Overview
ANDRITZ is seeking motivated general labourers to become part of the production team in the Joining department at the Kentville, Nova Scotia facility.
Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)
- Follow all QHSE rules, safe work practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Carry out duties in a manner that protects health, safety, and compliance.
- Promptly and accurately report injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions, and improper practices.
- Support efforts to improve workplace safety, including participation in problem-solving and risk-analysis activities.
- Attend required HSE training sessions whenever assigned.
- Help guide new team members on proper HSE practices.
- Understand the HSE plan and objectives and work in line with them.
- Speak up when coworkers are taking avoidable risks.
- Inspect safety devices before starting any operation.
- Take an active role in HSE processes and initiatives.
- Refuse unsafe work and avoid tasks that could put anyone’s health or safety at risk.
- Wear the required personal protective equipment at all times.
Role Duties
- Set up and start automatic joining machines efficiently so the equipment is operating correctly before handover to the Joiner.
- Carry out mechanical repairs, adjustments, and fine-tuning on joining equipment to prepare it for auto fringing and joining.
- Keep auto joining machines in proper working condition.
- Coordinate closely with Engineers, Auto Joining staff, Joiners, and Supervisors regarding machine fabric issues.
- Be able to complete every task involved in setting up a joining table, including installing and drawing the root strip, loading fabrics, interpreting the manufacturing ticket, and locating and installing the correct pattern cards; this requires strong knowledge of weave structures.
- Support the installation of fabrics on fringing tables and remove fringed fabrics in preparation for transfer to joining tables.
- Prepare the root strip so the yarns remain untwisted and the crimp is not damaged.
- Perform fabric joining and fringing according to productivity, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
- Prepare the fringe selector while ensuring yarns stay untwisted and crimp integrity is preserved.
- Work safely and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Stay up to date with all Joiner 1 work instructions in VKS as well as other relevant instructions, including changes to processes.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive pay is offered, along with shift premiums for 12-hour shifts and night shifts.
The role is a full-time night shift position running from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am.
