Role overview
This part-time Infection Preventionist role supports infection surveillance, prevention, and control at Prime Healthcare Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois. The position partners with hospital teams to maintain safe practices and comply with applicable infection-control and regulatory standards.
Key duties
You will help build and roll out infection prevention policies and procedures, support education efforts across the hospital, and coordinate infection control activities with the Infection Control Committee, medical staff, employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders. The role also includes responding to possible exposures and sharing information with patients, physicians, staff, volunteers, and regulatory bodies as needed.
Compliance and standards
The work must align with CDC guidance, OSHA requirements, AOA HFAP/TJC/CMS expectations, local regulations, and other relevant agency directives.
Education and experience
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in medicine, nursing, epidemiology, microbiology, public health, or another life-science field is preferred. If the candidate is a registered nurse, an active license in the state where the facility is located is required. A minimum of 2 years of healthcare experience is required, and at least 1 year of experience in infection control and/or employee health is preferred. Completion of formal APIC infection control courses is desirable, and CIC certification is preferred.
Schedule and workplace details
This is a part-time role with day shift scheduling at the Joliet, IL 60435 facility. The role is designated as part time under 60 hours.
Compensation and benefits
Estimated compensation for this position ranges from $35.35 to $53.58, with the final starting rate determined based on relevant factors such as experience, education, credentials, licensure, and skill set.
