Illustration Consultant

Opportunity

This role is for an experienced illustration specialist to support a major brand’s internal team on an 8-week contract. A core concept already exists following a recent brand refresh, and the assignment is to turn that early direction into a flexible, recognisable, and production-ready illustration system.

This is not a start-from-scratch brief. The work focuses on improving and extending an existing foundation so illustration can operate consistently across the wider brand environment, including marketing materials and product experiences.

Assignment Scope

• Develop and refine the visual direction into a distinctive illustration style that can be owned by the brand.
• Create a scalable system that works across the full digital journey, from small product UI spot illustrations to more detailed campaign scenes.
• Set clear rules for composition, shape construction, colour application, and different levels of complexity.
• Provide the internal team with a polished handover pack, including the illustration framework, usage guidance, sample illustrations, and neatly structured source files.

Requirements

• Demonstrated background in building illustration systems or broad visual languages for established brands.
• A portfolio showing work across both digital marketing and product-led environments.
• Strong ability in vector illustration and confident use of Figma.
• Comfort working collaboratively, sharing work early, and refining output based on stakeholder feedback.
• Experience using AI-assisted creative tools is a strong advantage.

Terms

This is an approximately 8-week freelance contract.

Day rate: £300/day via Umbrella PAYE or £221.03/day via PAYE direct.

Working setup is hybrid/remote, with an ideal expectation of 1 to 2 days onsite in London.
