Forklift Operative

Role overview

This is a permanent full-time opening for a Forklift Operative at a Cork depot in Little Island, County Cork. The role sits within a busy logistics environment and focuses on freight movement, terminal support, and keeping daily operations running safely and efficiently. The shift runs from 16:00 to 00:00, Monday to Friday.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is €30,000 to €35,000 per year. A 10% shift allowance is payable for hours worked between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am.

Responsibilities

• Check, scan, and unload inbound freight, making sure all outgoing allocations are completed correctly.
• Scan and load freight leaving the depot.
• Coordinate with customer service and planning teams as needed.
• Handle all goods carefully to avoid damage.
• Follow company health and safety procedures at all times.
• Comply with ADR and dangerous goods rules at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness and order across the department.
• Support the Contract Logistics team when required.
• Take part in all training sessions provided.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• Help meet the objectives and performance targets set by management.
• Prepare incident and discrepancy reports promptly.

Requirements

• A valid forklift licence is mandatory.
• A reach truck licence is an advantage.
• Prior experience working as a forklift operator is required.
• Strong spoken and written English skills are essential.
• Experience in logistics or transport is preferred.
• Good communication skills are necessary.
• Experience handling dangerous goods and pharma freight is desirable.
