Floor Technician

Job Overview

Velociti Services is looking for a Floor Technician to handle day-to-day care of hard flooring and carpeted surfaces across offices, hallways, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, break rooms, and other shared public areas. The role focuses on keeping floor surfaces clean, safe, and well maintained through a range of cleaning and restoration tasks.

Primary Duties

• Carry out preventive checks on equipment before using it.
• Secure the work area and place safety notices before starting tasks.
• Perform floor maintenance such as dry and damp mopping, buffing, and burnishing on hard surfaces and stairwells.
• Vacuum, shampoo, bonnet, and extract carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.
• Clean walls as needed.
• Handle high and low dusting tasks.
• Clean restrooms on a routine basis.
• Maintain offices and break rooms through regular cleaning.
• Take care of floor-care equipment and keep it in working condition.

Physical Requirements

This position involves frequent standing and walking, with some sitting and repetitive movement. The job also requires use of hands and arms for gripping, handling, rubbing, and reaching overhead. You should be able to push and pull with both hands and arms, climb or balance occasionally, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally. Candidates must be able to push and pull at least 30 pounds, lift 10 to 50 pounds, and regularly handle loads in the 0 to 10 pound range. The role may also require working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines during busy periods.

Experience and Qualification Summary

The ideal candidate should hold a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification and bring at least one year of floor-care experience. Prior knowledge of stripping, waxing, and burnishing floors with little to no assistance is expected. Experience using equipment such as high-speed buffers, extractors, wet vacs, pressure washers, and auto scrubbers is also important. Experience in janitorial or labor work within a facility setting is preferred, and the role calls for strong teamwork and customer service skills.
