Fire Officer

Role Overview

This full-time, non-management position sits within Engineering & Facilities at W Hotels in Vagator Beach, Bardez, Goa. The role focuses on maintaining fire and life-safety systems, supporting preventive maintenance activities, and helping ensure a safe environment for guests, associates, and property assets.

Key Duties

The selected professional will carry out preventive and corrective upkeep of tools, appliances, and equipment, including calibration of controls, gauges, and meters. The role involves locating and operating shut-off valves, tracking parts and supplies, maintaining inventory and purchase-order records, inspecting tools and machinery, and using computers to enter and retrieve work-related data. Responsibilities also include operating a power lift, completing life-safety checks, running fire-pump and generator tests, inspecting sprinkler valves and alarm systems, assisting with disaster response planning, and responding to guest repair needs.

People Leadership and Service Expectations

The position also supports people management activities such as helping with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, discipline, and coaching. The officer is expected to follow all safety, security, and company procedures; report hazards, incidents, injuries, and maintenance issues; complete required safety training and certifications; maintain a polished personal appearance; protect confidential information; and deliver courteous, standards-based service to guests, including those with disabilities. Strong teamwork, professional communication, and collaboration are essential.

Physical and Operational Requirements

This job requires regular movement and physical effort, including reaching overhead and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, standing or walking for long periods, climbing stairs or service ramps, and handling items up to 50 pounds without help. The role also calls for visually checking equipment and using hands to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of different sizes and weights.

Qualifications

Candidates should ideally have a technical, trade, or vocational school qualification, along with at least 2 years of relevant work experience and 2 years of supervisory experience. No specific license or certification is required.
