Role overview
An established infrastructure business in the South West is seeking an experienced Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Estimator to strengthen its busy Project Division. The position is based in Somerset and offers a salary of £60,000 to £65,000 per year, subject to experience, plus a benefits package.
What the role involves
- Producing detailed and reliable estimates for M&E projects.
- Building accurate tender submissions and project cost plans.
- Working from technical drawings and specifications to assess scope and pricing.
- Using estimating tools and Microsoft Office to support bid preparation.
- Applying strong commercial judgement and close attention to detail throughout the estimating process.
Required experience and knowledge
- At least 35 years of experience as an estimator in the building services or M&E sector.
- Solid understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and submit precise project tenders and cost plans.
- Confidence in interpreting technical documentation and drawings.
- Competence with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong commercial awareness and a careful, accurate approach to work.
Preferred qualifications
- HNC, HND, or a degree in Building Services, Quantity Surveying, or a similar discipline.
- Previous exposure to commercial, residential, and public sector projects.
