The State of Tennessee is hiring a full-time Driver's License Examiner for the Department of Safety and Homeland Security in Trenton, TN, serving Gibson County. Primary Duties
The examiner helps applicants understand licensing rules, verifies documents and fees, administers vision, written, and road tests, records results, and maintains license records in the state system. The role also includes cash handling, bank deposit preparation, vehicle safety checks for road testing, and occasional support for special cases, audits, reports, and supply or equipment ordering.
Qualifications
Applicants should have an education level equivalent to high school graduation. They must pass a criminal background clearance process, including fingerprint-based and name-based checks, and meet strict disqualifying-offense requirements under federal rules. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required, or the applicant must be able to obtain one before appointment.
Driver Standards
Because the job may include driving duties, candidates must hold a valid driver's license and maintain a clean recent driving record. Over the last five years, the record must not include DUI, reckless driving, a license suspension for moving violations, or more than four moving violations. The agency may grant an exception based on other factors.
