Role Summary

This is a full-time, on-site drafting position based in Doha, Qatar. The selected candidate will create precise technical drawings, layouts, and schematics for fire protection, fire suppression, firefighting, and fire alarm systems, ensuring they match project requirements and applicable standards.

Key Duties

The Draftman will translate engineering concepts into detailed drawings, work with project engineers and site teams, revise documents when design changes or site conditions arise, and keep all records organized and accurate. The role also includes supporting design reviews, preparing as-built drawings, and coordinating with procurement and installation teams so that drawings reflect the chosen materials and installation approach. In addition, the position may involve improving designs, maintaining drawing archives, and helping ensure compliance with local regulations and client specifications.

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants should bring strong technical drafting capability, including solid proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD and the ability to generate clean, detailed engineering drawings. A working understanding of fire protection, fire suppression, and fire alarm systems is required, along with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.

Experience reading architectural, structural, and MEP drawings, and coordinating fire system layouts across disciplines, is important. The role also demands strong attention to detail, accurate documentation habits, and the ability to manage drawing revisions, as-built records, and project files.

Good communication and teamwork are essential, as the position involves regular coordination with engineers, project managers, and site personnel. A technical diploma or degree in drafting, engineering, or a related field is preferred, and prior exposure to fire protection or building services projects is a strong advantage.

Knowledge of local and international fire protection codes and standards, such as NFPA, together with a basic understanding of QA/QC procedures, will be beneficial. Candidates must be willing to work on-site in Doha, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-moving project environment.
