What the job involves

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out routine cleaning tasks in both clinical and non-clinical spaces, maintaining the required standards across the Atlas portfolio. The work will take place in community health centres, where you will clean a mix of clinical and non-clinical areas.

Travel and access requirements

A full, current driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as the role requires travel between different sites within the Atlas footprint.

This position may require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full details will be shared if you are invited to interview.

Duties and day-to-day tasks

  • Carry out routine vacuuming and, when needed, shampoo carpeted areas using carpet-cleaning equipment.
  • Maintain hard flooring through regular machine buffing, including spray cleaning, scrubbing and polishing.
  • Perform frequent high and low-level dusting of worktops, ledges, skirting, picture frames, notice boards, radiators, desks, shelving, and other fixtures and fittings.
  • Clean non-clinical electrical equipment and furniture each day, with periodic application of spray polish.
  • Clean washbasins, toilets, sluice sinks and sanitary fittings daily, and restock soap, hand towels and toilet tissue as needed.
  • Keep internal glass surfaces clean, including partitions, door glazing and mirrors.
  • Empty clinical and domestic waste bins and litter bins daily, using the correct colour-coded bags and taking waste to approved storage areas.
  • Help keep the premises secure by locking doors, setting intruder alarms and reporting any suspicious activity.

About the employer

Atlas provides fully managed healthcare facilities and property management services to clients across Lancashire and South Cumbria. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, it is part of the Trust group and the wider NHS family, while operating as a separate limited company with its own business plan, board, management structure and workforce.

Any surplus generated is invested back into the business to support growth, create additional jobs, and fund training and development, while also helping the Trust deliver frontline clinical services and safe patient care.

The organisation’s services include capital developments, estates management, facilities management, medical engineering and property services. Its teams work to ensure that client properties and amenities offer a high-quality environment for patients, staff, visitors and other service users.
