Role Overview
We are looking for a Design Engineer for an automotive business in Dubai. The role sits within Product Design / R&D and focuses on creating practical, production-ready engineering designs for automotive parts, tools, jigs, and fixtures. A strong background in SolidWorks and 2D CAD is essential, along with an understanding of how design decisions affect shop floor manufacturing.

Responsibilities
- Create accurate 3D models and detailed 2D drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for vehicle components, assemblies, and tooling.
- Develop jigs, fixtures, and sheet metal parts used in production and inspection processes.
- Prepare BOMs, GD&T drawings, and technical files aligned with automotive requirements.
- Work with manufacturing, tooling, and production teams so the designs can be built efficiently on the shop floor.
- Assist with prototype builds, validation work, and design updates based on production feedback.
- Keep design records organized, including revisions and engineering change notes.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for tooling and component requirements.
- Ensure that all designs follow automotive standards and customer specifications.
Requirements
- B.E., B.Tech, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2-4 years of practical CAD design experience in the automotive domain.
- Strong command of SolidWorks, including part modeling, assemblies, sheet metal, surfaces, and drafting.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
- Understanding of manufacturing methods such as machining, sheet metal work, casting, and welding.
- Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and ISO automotive standards is preferred.
- Applicants with direct exposure to manufacturing or shop floor environments will be prioritized.
Preferred Profile
- Experience with automotive jigs and fixtures, as well as plastic and metal component design.
- Familiarity with PDM or PLM tools.
- UAE or GCC experience will be an added advantage.
- Immediate joiners are preferred.
