Role Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced Data and Communications Technician to join the Auckland team. The role covers structured cabling, Wi-Fi installations, fibre splicing and testing, plus ongoing service and maintenance of communication systems.
You will contribute across projects and service assignments from initial setup through to completion. This is a practical, hands-on position that requires independent working, accountability for your output, and a strong focus on safe, efficient, and compliant delivery. There may also be opportunities to take on additional responsibility on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Install structured cabling systems in line with drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Carry out Wi-Fi installation work, fibre splicing, and associated testing.
- Support testing, commissioning, and basic troubleshooting of communication systems.
- Assist with service and maintenance tasks across communications projects and existing installations.
- Manage your own work with minimal supervision and take ownership of assigned tasks.
- Maintain accurate documentation for completed jobs and site activity.
- Help keep projects moving by coordinating with Project Managers and other site personnel.
- Contribute to a tidy, professional site presence and a high standard of workmanship.
- Support trainees where needed and help strengthen overall team productivity.
- Work in a way that supports safe and compliant project delivery.
What You’ll Need
- Proven experience installing structured cabling to plans and required standards.
- Practical capability in testing, commissioning, and simple fault diagnosis.
- Care and precision in job records and technical documentation.
- A strong pride in the quality and presentation of your work on site.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with project teams.
- Solid understanding of installation techniques, materials, tools, and testing processes.
- NZ Certificate in Data Cabling (Level 3) or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Current Site Safe Passport, or the ability to obtain one.
- Full New Zealand Class 1 driver licence.
- Flexibility to adjust working hours when needed.
