Compliance Data & Business Intelligence Analyst

Overview

This opportunity is for a Compliance Data & Business Intelligence Analyst to join a collaborative team supporting environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance across Ontario. The role blends data analysis, business intelligence, compliance reporting, and policy interpretation to help drive evidence-based decisions in a highly regulated setting.

The position reports to the Manager, Compliance Data and Business Intelligence and involves working with compliance, analytics, finance, IT, and external partners to strengthen data quality, streamline reporting, and deliver practical insights that improve program performance, oversight, and continuous improvement efforts.

Work Location and Language

The role is based in Toronto, Ontario, with a hybrid setup. Candidates from across Ontario may be considered. Strong written and verbal English communication is required, and French is regarded as an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for building and maintaining reporting workflows, dashboards, and performance measures for regulated programs. The role also includes examining compliance, operational, and program data to spot trends, risks, and areas where processes can be improved.

As the data steward, you will help maintain high standards for data quality, governance, documentation, and consistency in reporting. You will also contribute to KPI creation, performance tracking, and executive-level reporting that supports leadership in evaluating program effectiveness.

In addition, you will work closely with internal teams and outside stakeholders to gather reporting needs and turn data into useful business insights. The position supports cross-functional work such as system upgrades, process refinements, budgeting-related tasks, and public-facing reporting. You will also carry out data reviews and compliance assessments to assist with regulatory oversight and operational decisions.

Required Experience and Qualifications

A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience is needed in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting, compliance analytics, or program analysis. Experience in a regulated environment such as public sector, environmental, governance, or other compliance-focused settings is expected.

Advanced Excel capability is required, along with experience using CRM platforms, preferably Salesforce, reporting systems, and data visualization tools. The role calls for strong analytical and problem-solving ability, plus the skill to convert complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.

You should also have experience with data governance, data quality practices, and reporting standards. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities are important, including the capacity to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Knowledge of waste management, environmental policy, regulatory structures, or compliance programs would be a valuable asset.
