About the opportunity
The Department of Education, Western Australia is building a pool of cleaners for permanent and fixed-term vacancies that may occur during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. These roles may be offered at any time for vacancies starting within that period.
This position is based at Aveley North Primary School and is available on both full-time and part-time arrangements.
Role overview
The cleaner will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe school environment through a mix of internal and external cleaning duties. Internal work includes care of carpets and hard floors, cleaning toilets, dusting, furniture and fittings, rubbish removal, and general cleaning tasks. External duties may include cleaning verandas and covered areas, emptying rubbish, cleaning drinking troughs, washing windows, removing cobwebs, and completing other general cleaning tasks.
During school vacations, the role also includes more detailed maintenance work such as stripping and sealing vinyl floors, window cleaning, shampooing carpets, and pressure cleaning verandas and undercover areas.
What the school is looking for
Ideal applicants will be detail-oriented, organised, honest, reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently as well as with a team. A strong understanding of cleaning equipment, safe cleaning methods, and proper procedures is important for this role.

Eligibility and checks
To be considered, applicants must obtain a valid Working With Children Check, agree to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, and secure a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before starting work.
Applicants must also be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with the necessary work rights for the duration of the appointment.
